+ How to Protect Yourself and Others
(CDC guidance at cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html)
The best strategy is still "don't catch it." While most patients will get through the virus and be able to recover at home, COVID-19 has been deadly for hundreds of thousands of other Americans, and many "long haulers" survived the virus but are still enduring symptoms many months later. We still don't know why the virus can have such different outcomes for different people. Before people become infected, there is no way to tell who will be asymptomatic versus who will have serious illness requiring hospitalization and possibly dying due to inadequate response to treatment. Please take the following actions to protect yourself and everyone that you care about:
When indoors or in large crowds
> Wear a mask
> Avoid close contact in closed spaces
> Practice healthy hygiene:
Do not touch your face
Use hand sanitizer
Wash your hands regularly
> Get the COVID-19 vaccine (click here for more information)
